Remarks
Bound autogr. score without label. No cover title. Parts are missing.
Dedication (p. 183): A M D G B V M OO SS H AA P I R.
Composed to the text of Stefano Pallavicini for performance at the banquet held following the marriage of Baroness Johanna von Stein and Prince Georg Ignaz Lubomirsky in 1737.
The report of this event published in the HStCal (1738) is inaccurate. See the important study of Jóhannes Ágústsson (who discovered the libretto): ‘Zelenka's Serenata ZWV 177’, 207–10. Here it is revealed that this serenade was titled ‘Il Diamante’ and that its performance was directed from the keyboard by the Dresden Kapellmeister, Johann Adolph Hasse. See also Michael Talbot, ‘Zelenka’s Serenata’, Zelenka-Studien II, 217–41.
In the ‘Catalogo della Musica di Chiesa’ (c1784) the work is listed with score and parts: ‘à 4 voci conc. co’VVni, Viola, Ob: Fl: Corni ed Org.’ (III/Z/23/1).
