C. per le 2 Passioni secundum Matthaeum et Joannem persone e Cori cavati. Jesus ed Evangelista à parte. (III/28/6) Text incipit below the music incipit: Passio Domini.
Early reports of the Diarium Missionis reveal that the Passion was sung in the Dresden Catholic court church in German. In 1734, however, this report was given: ‘18.4.[Dominica in Palmis]: Cantatur tota passio Latine. Bassista Lutheranus egit Christum, ô vah! D. Ritschel Evangelistam’. (The Passion was sung in Latin but a Lutheran sang the part of Christ, ô vah! Ritzschel, the Evangelist).
