The incipits of this and the following eleven listings correspond with incipits of works in the collection of motets by Caldara listed in this catalogue as: 11 [sic] Motetti . . . 5 libri stampati Mus. 2170-E-1. See I/C/7/4.
Several of these settings were reworked by Zelenka and he listed five of these (including this setting of ps. 50, Miserere) into his Inventarium anonymously as works for Quadragesimalia.
Except for one alteration to the rhythm in bar 1, the incipit given here for the anonymous ‘Miserere mei Domine’ comes from the part for Canto Primo of No 10 from Caldara’s 12 Motetti, Op. 4.

In the ‘Catalogo della Musica di Chiesa’ (c1784) score and parts are shown No 1 of the 12 anonymous Offertoria Pro Quadragesima’, Miserere mei (III/25/6). Scoring given as ‘à 3 voci, S. A. e B. senza stromenti’. The incipit given above is taken from the Canto part of No 10, ‘Miserere mei Domine’. The rhythm of the first bar is altered here from two crotchets to a dotted rhythm.
