Remarks

Bound autogr. score (landscape) of the motet Qui nihil sortis, a da capo aria almost certainly composed by Zelenka. No title page; no identification by name; no date; no dedication.
Head of score (right) : No: 5 (non-autogr). Altered from No. 6?
Most of the label to correspond with the Hofkirche ‘Catalogo’ (1765) is missing, and cannot be read. Label to correspond with the Catalogo (c1784): Schranck No: III. | 25. Fach 5. Lage | [No. 5?) Motetto | Sollicitus fossor] | à Contr’alto Solo | co’ VVni Vla Fag: Violclo concert. | ed Org | Partitura sola. Incipit.
In the ‘Catalogo della Musica di Chiesa’ (c1784) a score only is shown for the motet Sollicitus fossor listed under Musica senza nome dell’Autore: III/25/5. Scoring given as ‘à Sopr. e Contr’alto Solo [sic] co’VVni Viola, Fag. Violonc: ed Org.’ Incipit.
See Freemanová & Stockigt, ‘Jan Dismas Zelenka and a Prague performance of San’t Elena al Calvario by Leonardo Leo’, where it is suggested that both this motet Sollicitus fossor and the opening aria from Zelenka’s Barbara dira effera (ZWV 164) were composed to be inserted into Leonardo Leo’s oratorio San’t Elena al Calvario for a performance given at the Clementinum College Prague, 1734.
NB: Watermarks seen in the score are the same as those used on paper for Zelenka’s motets Barbara dira effera and Qui nihil sortis (ZWV 211).
See Stockigt, ‘Musica senza nome’, 30 (28.5, where the ZWV number for Sollicitus fossor is incorrectly given as 211).
