This incipit corresponds with No 5 (‘Benedictus Deus’) from Caldara’s [12] Motetti a due, e tre voci Op. 4 for Canto, Alto, Basso, Violone o Tiorba, Organo. The now-missing collection of the 12 Offertoria pro Quadragesima, listed in the Catalogo (1765) under Musica senza nome dell’Autore seems to have been a series of re-workings undertaken by Zelenka in Dresden based upon Caldara’s 12 Motetti a due, e tre Voci, a collection dedicated to Cardinal Ottoboni and published as Op. 4 (Bologna: Silvani, 1715).

In the ‘Catalogo della Musica di Chiesa’ (c1784) score only is shown for No 8 of the 12 anonymous Offertoria Pro Quadragesima’, Benedictus Deus (III/25/13). Scoring given as ‘à 2 Contr’Alti, senza stromenti’. The incipit (in alto clef) agrees with the incipit of the alto part of No 5, ‘Benedictus Deus’ from Caldara’s 12 Motetti, Op. 4.(Text from Ep. S. Paul to the Corinthians II, 1–3).
