Remarks
This incipit corresponds with No 9 (‘Exaudi Domine’) from Caldara’s [12] Motetti a due, e tre voci Op. 4 for Canto, Alto, Basso, Violone o Tiorba, Organo. The now-missing collection of the 12 Offertoria pro Quadragesima, listed in the Catalogo (1765) under ‘Musica senza nome dell’Autore’ seems to have been a series of re-workings undertaken by Zelenka in Dresden based upon Caldara’s 12 Motetti a due, e tre Voci, a collection dedicated to Cardinal Ottoboni and published as Op 4 (Bologna: Silvani, 1715).
See Stockigt, ‘Musica senza nome’, 32 (28.11).
In the ‘Catalogo della Musica di Chiesa’ (c1784) score and parts are shown for No 6 of the 12 anonymous Offertoria Pro Quadragesima’, Exaudi Domine (III/25/11). Scoring given as ‘à 3 voci A. T. e B., senza stromenti’. The incipit (in A Major, in soprano clef ) agrees with the incipit of the alto part of No 9, ‘Exaudi Domine’ from Caldara’s 12 Motetti, Op. 4.
Concordance:
CZ Pak, 235. This incipit corresponds with the bars 1–2 of the Soprano Pmo. part from a set kept in CZ Pak. See Štefan, ([246] Sign. 235 ), prov. Sehling.
