Mus. 3610-E-2a: Set of 22 parts with two blue-grey wrappers.
Label on outer wrapper to correspond with the Catalogo (c1784): Schranck No. II. | Lit. P. 7. Fach 18. Lage | Litaniae Lauretanae | à 4 voci | co’ VVni Viola ed Org. | Partitura e parti | del Sigr Franco Poppe | Incipit.
Cover title (hand of Zelenka): gb (upper left) | N 14 (upper right) | Litaniae Laure | tanae à 4 | col stromenti | di S: Poppe.
Parts (8 vocal; 14 instrumental): Canto Concert[ant]e; Alto Concert[ant]e ; Tenore Concert[ant]e (WM p. 9); Basso ; Canto R ; Alto R; Tenore R; Basso R; Violino Primo ‘M: P:’ (= Monsieur Pisendel. In Zelenka’s hand); Violino Imo; Violino Imo; Violino 2do; Violino 2do; Alto Viola; Violoncello; Violetta ò Violone Ripieno; a part in bass clef marked ‘Basso pro Direttore’ (notated in bass clef with solo/tutti directions in Zelenka’s hand); Organo (figured, not by Zelenka) with directions for tempi in Zelenka’s hand; Oboe Imo; Oboe 2do (this part moves below the range); Fagoto [sic] (with many additional tempo marks in pencil); Fagotto.
It is probable that these parts were prepared in the early 1730s for a performance to be directed by Zelenka from the bass instrumental part marked ‘Basso pro Direttore’.
These parts are closely related to a set prepared for Caldara’s Mass in A (Mus. 2170-D-14: I/C/7/1), and the score of Carlo Pollarolo’s Confitebor setting (Mus. 2107-D-1: II/P/11/2). Horn, ‘Die wichtigsten Schreiber’, 165, states the parts are in the hands of copyists ZS 1, ZS 2, and others.
See also Horn (Hkm, 158-9). Incipit given in Zekenka-Dokumentation, 62, Nr. 189a.
Franz Poppe was choirmaster (Regens chori) of the Kreuzherren church in Prague: St Francis Seraphim.
