Remarks

Score copy with markings by Heinichen [?], and paste overs (pp. 13, 38, 40–41, 61, 71). Parts are missing.
Cover label (non-autogr.): Requiem | Solenne | à 4tro voci con Stromenti | Incipit | di Heinichen.
A catalogue label kept with the score does not correspond with the position of storage given in the Catalogo of 1765. It must relate to the catalogue of c1784: Schranck No. I | Lit. H. 33. Fach 2. Lage | No. 2) Messa | per li Defonti | à 4 voci | co’ VVni Oboi 3. Trombe | Viola ed Org: | Partitura e parti | del. Sigr Heinichen | Incipit.
This score lacks a title page. It is undated.
Caption title: Requiem Solenne (centre). Heinichen’s comments (left) are obliterated. Heinichen often wrote comments on scores noting praise he received for compositions he directed in the royal chapel. Most of these were then obliterated by an unknown person, perhaps because the recording of personal praise for music intended for the royal chapel was considered to be unseemly.
Conclusion of the score: 1/2 H (half an hour).
Entries in the Dresden Diarium Missionis note that Heinichen was responsible for the memorial requiem for Joseph I in 1724, when the anniversary was observed on 24 April. (Heinichen’s setting of an offertory from the Missa pro defunctis, titled Domine Jesu Christe, Mus. 2398-E-14,3, is dated 1724, perhaps corrected from ‘1722’).
Although the anniversary of 1725 was noted in both the Diarium (17 April) and annual letter to Rome, no information is given about the music performed.
In 1727 Heinichen again provided music for the anniversary ordered by the Saxon Electoral Princess Maria Josepha (22 April), and in 1728 a Requiem was sung on 17 April. Of the anniversary held on 26 April 1729, the Diarium states that Heinichen performed the music with the royal musicians. This was the last time his name appeared in that source.
On this work, see Horn (Hkm, 84. )
