Remarks
Autogr. score of Fasch heavily re-worked by Heinichen. NB Some losses in the score (eg. 26–7-recent pagination). Parts are missing.
Caption title (autogr.): Messa 2 di J. F. Fasch. All Mass and Vespers settings (Vespers settings are unlisted in the Inventarium 1765) by Fasch held by SLUB are written on paper originating from the paper mill in Kirchberg (near Zwickau) operated by Johann Christian Hertel. Fasch also used this paper for works composed in Prague during his employment by Count Morzin, 1721–22. See Manfred Fechner, ‘Zur Datierung von Johann Friedrich Faschs "Dresdner" Vesperkompositionen und Messen’ 57–8.
In addition to two Mass settings by Fasch in Heinichen’s collection, another mass by Fasch once was held by Zelenka (Missa sine nomine, Inventarium listing 9/38: now missing?). It was not catalogued by SLB.
On this mass setting, see Stockigt, ‘Fasch visits Dresden’, 29–56.
