Description

This is an image of myself on Zoom, which is an online conferencing tool that many universities and workplaces are using at the moment, while COVID-19 is evolving in Australia. I am also wearing a surgical mask in this image, which symbolises the fact that I am currently in self-quarantine. I also have my planner placed next to my laptop, which shows that we are in the year 2020.

Through this image, I wanted to express my feelings of discomfort and frustration at that point in time. I had recently returned from overseas, and upon arriving home, I had to self-quarantine myself. I had to wear a mask even though I was at home. This frustrated me because I felt uncomfortable in the place that I seek comfort from – my home.

Even though I felt uncomfortable and frustrated, I also wanted to express my feelings of gratitude. In the present year of 2020, I am glad that technology has advanced greatly because I am still able to connect with the rest of the world through video conferencing.
