In 1729 the feast of Corpus Christi fell on 16 June. This work, dated 18 June 1729, would have been performed during the octave. Brief reports in the Dresden Diarium Missionis note that on 15 (Vigil), 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22 June, litanies were sung, usually at 4.00 pm.
In the later ‘Catalogo della Musica di Chiesa’ (c1784) score and parts are listed under the heading Litaniae de V. Sacr: No. 1. (III/Z/17/1).
