Remarks

Listed here in the Catlaogo (1765) are the parts (now missing) for a Missa tota composed by Imperial court theorbo player, Francesco Conti. See Contini (Conti). I/C/9/8. Note Conti’s original setting included trumpets (in C) and trombones in the scoring. Zelenka omitted these from this Dresden version.
In the later ‘Catalogo della Musica di Chiesa’ (c1784), where this work by Conti is also listed under the Zelenka’s name, parts only are shown for the Kyrie, Gloria, Credo, Sanctus, and Agnus of No: 19) Messa (III/Z/12/2). The scoring given for all sections is: ‘à 4 voci co’ VVni. Oboi, Viola ed Org.’ The Kyrie listing has the indication: ‘defect’.
See Horn (Hkm 166–73) for extensive discussion of this mass.
