Remarks

This Stabat Mater setting, listed here as Nr. 11 of the Duetti per la Quadragesima, does not appear in the later (?) source containing ten Divoti Affetti alla Passione di Nostro Signore (D-Dl Mus. 2955-E-500: II/R/9/1).
Mengelberg, under ‘Die übrigen Kirchenwerke’ (150) notes this work as: Stabat Mater. Nr. 1. B-Dur. 2 voci con Tiorba concert. P. Dresd. Mus. (K. H.)*
Thus, Mengelberg found this work in the Königl. Bibliothek zu Dresden. See II/R/17/1.
The earliest report of the performance of a setting of Stabat Mater appears in the Dresden Diarium Missionis in 1735: 1.4.1735 [Feria VI. post Dominicam IV. in Quadragesima]: Hora 4 Miserere. Exhortio. Productum: Stabat mater a musicis, benediction. The Diarium reports upon the responsibility taken by Ristori for the production of the sequence Stabat mater on two occasions:
23.3.1736 [Friday before Palm Sunday]: Hora 4. Miserere. Concio ... Benedictio. Produxit D. Ristori: Stabat Mater.
30.3.1738 [Dominica in Palmis]: Passio decantata more solito. Post Vesperas concio quadragesimalis . . . loco cantus produxit D. Ristori Stabat Mater.
On these settings, see Gerhard Poppe, Foreword to Giovanni Alberto Ristori: Divoti Affetti alla Passione di Nostro Signore.
