Remarks
Unbound score copy. Venetian copy? Tre lunae watermark.
Label kept with the score corresponds with the listing of the Catalogo (c1784): Schranck No. II. | Lit. P. 7. Fach 5. Lage | Psalmi | Beatus vir | à 4 voci | co’ VVni Viola ed Org | Partitura sola | del Sigr Pietragrua | Incipit.
Another catalogue label is kept with the score: S. | Pietragrua | Beatus vir, co’ Strumti | partita Sola. Caption title: Beatus vir a 4 Voci con Istr[u]m[en]ti: Del Sigr Carlo Luigi Pietragrua.
Pietragrua joined the Dresden Hofkapelle in 1691. After time spent in Düsseldorf (1694+), he became Maestro di coro to the Pietà in Venice (1719–26).
The copyist proposed by Jóhannes Ágústsson is Giovanni Battista Vivaldi, father of Antonio Vivaldi. This is supported by Michael Talbot, and it reinforces his claim that ‘Vivaldi senior copied music not only by his son, but also on behalf of his son (or of members of their close circle)’. See Michael Talbot, Miscellany, in Studi Vivaldiani 15 (2015), 183–4.
