Catalogue label to correspond with the entry in the missing Catalogo (c1784): Schranck No. II. Lit: N. | 4. Fach 3. Lage | Laudate pueri | a 3. voci | S. A. e B. | col VVni Viola ed Org. | Partitura sola.| del Sig.r Negri | Incipit.

Zelenka identified the composer of this work (Mus. 2883-D-1) as ‘S: Antonio Negri’. Perhaps this is the father (named Antonio) of the contralto Maria Catterina Negri. Antonio Negri was with his daughter in Prague during the 1720s where she was engaged to sing for the opera theatre of Count Franz Anton von Sporck. See Daniel Freeman, The Opera Theater of Count Franz Anton von Sporck in Prague, 31 n. 55; 341–2.
One instruction in Zelenka’s hand is given to copyists page 18 (‘27. NB Soprano Incipit cu[m] Alto et Basso’) .
Wolfgang Horn identifies the copyist of Mus. 2883-D-1 as ZS 1 ( = from early 1730s). See Zelenka-Studien I, 174.
Concordance: The setting is listed by Štefan as an anonymous work from the collection of the Prague cathedral of St Vitus. It has an identical incipit and scoring requirements as those shown in the Catalogo (1765): [ANONYMOUS] ([1582] Sign. 1517): LAUDATE PUERI: Ms. : Prov.: AG [= Antonín Görbig/ Gerbich], JFN [= Jan František Novák]: x C, A, B, Vno I II, A Vla, Org.
Incipit given in Zekenka-Dokumentation, 58, Nr. 129.
On this setting see Stockigt, ‘Vespers Psalms of Jan Dismas Zelenka’, App. 2, 661–2.
