No performance materials for Missa per li Defonti No. 2 by Hasse are held by SLUB. Of the various scores of this work kept by SLUB, the copy from which the parts were made was probably Mus. 2477-D-4b. In the later, undated ‘Catalogo della Musica di Chiesa composta di Giov: Adolfo Hasse’ score and parts are listed (Fach 8; Lage 1). There, the scoring is given as ‘à 4 voci co’ VVni. Oboi, Flauti, Corni, Viola ed Organo.’ The Catalogo (1765) entries of the two ‘Messa per li Defonti by Hasse (each with parts only) have this margin remark: ‘Die Partituren hirvon habe Sr Königs Hoheit Churfürstin.’ (The scores hereof [are in the possession of] Her Royal Highness, the Electress), reference to Maria Antonia Walpurgis (1724–1780), married in 1747 to her cousin, Saxon Prince Friedrich Christian, later Elector of Saxony (died 17 December 1763). This Requiem was composed for the exequies of August III (died 5 October 1763).
