Remarks
Mus. 2477-D-509: Bound folder with two parts for Alto Imo, and Alto R of the Messe per il Defonti No. 1.
1. The solo alto (‘Alto Imo’) part of the Requiem and Sanctus is bound into the folder. The accompanying bass line is given for the solo passages (eg. the Christe eleison). Several additions are notated, especially to the ‘Lachrymosa’. At the conclusion ‘Agnus Intonatio Tacet poi si replica Requiem e finisce.’ is written.
2. A part for ‘Alto R’ of the Requiem and Sanctus. The remaining performance parts are missing from Dresden.
In the later, undated ‘Catalogo della Musica di Chiesa composta di Giov: Adolfo Hasse’, score and parts are listed (Fach 7; Lage 1). There, the scoring is given as ‘à 4 voci co’ VVni. Oboi, Flauti, Corni, Viola ed Organo’. This work was composed for the funeral exequies of Saxon Elector Friedrich Christian who died on 17 December 1763. The Catalogo (1765) entries of the two ‘Messa per li Defonti’ by Hasse (each listed as parts only) have this margin remark: ‘Die Partituren hirvon habe Sr Königs Hoheit Churfürstin.’ (the scores hereof [are in the possession of] Her Royal Highness, the Electress), a reference to the widow, Maria Antonia Walpurgis (1724–1780).
