Remarks
Score copy of a Kyrie/Gloria, without wrapper or cover. An Italian source. Parts are missing.
Caption title: In No[mi]ne Do[mi]ni | del Sigr D. Giuseppe Gonelli. Concl. of score: Soli Deo, ac | Deipare | Honor, decus, et | Gloria.
There are neat marks in red ink and red pencil throughout to draw attention of copyists to the requirements of instrumentation, eg. ‘Oboe p[rim]o 8a alte’ (meaning oboe 1 was to play an octave above the notated pitch). This copy is in the same hand as the following two works of Gonelli: Mus. 2735-D-2 and -D-3. Is it possible that the mass listing No. 66 in Zelenka’s Inventarium – ‘Gionelli’ – (not entered in Zelenka’s hand) is by Giuseppe Gonelli (either this or, more likely, the following example: I/G/22/1)? Page 1 of the score has a small round sticker with ‘28’ (in red ink). These stickers are discussed by Bacciagaluppi & Stockigt, ‘Italian Manuscripts of Sacred Music in Dresden’, 152 and Table 5.
Concordances:
1. CZ-Pkřiž, XXXV B 274. Score of the Gloria (third quarter of the 18th century). RISM ID no. 550248674.Also a copy of the Credo (1744).
2. D-Mbs, Mus.ms. 103. Bayerische Staatsbibliothek, Musikabteilung, München. RISM ID no. 456009183.
