Remarks
Score copy. Blue-grey cover.
Cover title: (hand of Zelenka): 47 (upper right) | De profundis | à 4 | C: A: T: B: | Violin 2 Viole | e | Basso Contin: | Fischer.
The score does not reflect the instrumentation written by Zelenka on the cover title: no viola part is given, and the bass line is unfigured. Zelenka’s hand is not seen in this score
The Doxology text of this setting (‘Gloria Patri ...’ is for Vespers of the Christmas octave, not for exequies). This brief work is through-composed in a total of 49 bars, exactly the same length as Zelenka’s short setting of 1729 (ZWV 95), for which this setting of Fischer may have served as the model.
Horn (Hkm, 134) notes that this psalm setting appears in the print Vesperae seu psalmi vespertini pro toto anno op. III, Augsburg 1701 (RISM F 985), a publication dedicated to the Grand Master of the Kreuzherren Order.
Stockigt, ‘The Vespers Psalms of Jan Dismas Zelenka’, App. 2, No. 47.
Horn (‘Die wichtigsten Schreiber’, 164), identifies the copyist of Mus. 1865-D-3 as ZS O.
