The solo voice (tenor) was subsequently altered by Zelenka to soprano for one of the soprano castrati, Ventura Rochetti (‘Venturini’) or Giovanni Bindi. A similar re-scoring by Zelenka for soprano of a work originally set for solo tenor occurred with the motet of 1731, Gaude laetare (ZWV 168). See III/Z/13/5. The original singer of this psalm setting could was probably the tenor Matteo Lucchini whose annual salary of 566 thalers was discontinued on 31 March 1731.
