Remarks
Part-autogr. score with grey-blue cover.
Cover title (autogr.): L: J: C: | Da pacem Domine! | a 2 Cori | ora reali ora obligati: | Violi 2 | Oboe 2 | Viola | e | Basso Continuo | di | G: D: Z:.
Dedication: A M D G B M V OO SS H AA P I R.
Perhaps composed for a special devotion at the outbreak of the first Silesian War (1740)? The draft score begins in Zelenka’s hand but is completed by another scribe. See Th. Kohlhase in ‘Echtheitsfragen aus quellenkritischer Sicht’, 125–36 (also Zelenka-Studien I, 338), who suggests that this might be the reworking of an earlier composition.
See also Zelenka-Dokumentation, 304, ZWV 167.
In the later ‘Catalogo della Musica di Chiesa’ (c1784) score and parts are listed under Offertoria: No: 4) Da pacem Domine (III/Z/13/14).
