Caption title: Sigre Carl. Pallavicini. S. E. S. C. M. Kyrie.
Between positions held in Padua as organist at the basilica of St Antonio, and Venice as maestro di coro at the Ospedale degli Incurabili, Carlo Pallavicino served the Dresden court as both the vice-Kapellmeister (1666) and Kapellmeister (1672–3; 1687–8). His son, Stefano Benedetto Pallavicini (1672-1742) became the Dresden court poet in 1688.
Gerhard Poppe (Kontinuität der Institution, 72–3) suggests that this Kyrie/Gloria pair originated with the collection of the Lutheran chapel the Dresden court amd came to be stored with the music collection of the Catholic court church.
