Remarks

Mus. 2398-D-22: Bound autogr. score. Restored.
Title page: Magnificat | Mes. Junij 1721 | Fest. SS. [P]et[ri] et Pauli | di Heinichen. Comments by Heinichen obliterated by an unknown hand, perhaps because personal praise for music intended for the royal chapel was considered unseemly.
Concl. of score: 18 M[inuten?].
Mus. 2398-D-22a: Bound autogr. score. Badly damaged. The final page cannot be viewed at present.
Title page: Magnificat (abbreviato) | à 4 Voc. | con Violini | Giov. Heinichen.
Mus. 2398-E-510: Set of 30 parts to accompany the abbreviated Magnificat setting, D-22a. This setting of 1721 (or 1722), composed for the feast of SS Peter and Paul (29 June), was later abbreviated by Heinichen. The shortened score, and set of parts to accompany this later version, are kept in SLUB as Mus. 2398-D-22a and Mus. 2398-E-510.
Which of the two scores (both autograph) is represented in the Catalogo of 1765 cannot be established. Nor is it possible to determine whether the set of parts Mus. 2398-E-510 (21 original? + 9 later?) represent the performance materials listed in 1765.
Parts (12 vocal; 18 instrumental) for Canto; Canto R; Alto; Alto R; Tenor; Tenor R; Basso; Basso; Violino Primo; Violino Secondo; Violetta; Organo; Violon R; Oboè Primo; Oboe Secondo; Violino Primo; Violino Secondo; Violetta; Violoncello; Tiorba; Fagotto. Plus parts on different sized paper: Soprano R; Contralto R; Tenore R; Basso; Violino Primo; Violino Primo; Violino Secondo; Violino Secondo; Violone.
On Heinichen’s Vespers psalm compositions entered into this Catalogo see I/H/23/17 and Margaret Williams, ‘The Vespers Music of J. D. Heinichen (1683–1729)’. Also Horn (Hkm, 84–6).
