The annual letter to Rome from the Dresden Jesuits for 1738 reported Hasse as being the composer of the Te Deum performed on the occasion of the marriage (by proxy) of Saxon Princess Maria Amalia to Charles, King of the Two Sicilies (from 1759, Charles III, King of Spain): Terminatis Caeremoniis hymnus Ambrosianus singulari musices arte à Domino Hasse concinnatus, inter reboantia tormenta, et militarium sclopetorum explosiones solemnissime est decantatus. (At the end of the ceremonies, the Ambrosian hymn, set [concinnatus] with great musical skill by Dominus Hasse, was most solemnly sung amidst the roar of the cannons and musket salvos). Annuae literae Missionis Regiae Dresdensis ad annum 1737, ARSI (I-Rar), Boh 156, 60.
