Remarks
Mus. 2477-D- 44,1–5 comprises five sets of parts for sections of Hasse’s Mass in d minor: Kyrie (Mus. 2477-D-44,1: 33 parts); Gloria (Mus. 2477-D-44,2: 41 parts); Credo (Mus. 2477-D-44,3: 39 parts); Sanctus (Mus. 2477-D-44,4: 41 parts); Agnus (Mus. 2477-D-44,5: 39 parts).
Each set is kept in a wrapper, and each has the part of the work named in red pencil (Kyrie; Gloria etc.). The initials ‘S. P.’ (Signor Pisendel) are written in ink on the principal violin part of each set (either upper centre or right).
Mus. 2477-D-44,1–5 appears to comprise the original set of parts used for the performance of Hasse’s mass (which he directed) for the dedication of the Dresden Hofkirche in 1751. To the original performance materials further parts later have been added.
In the ‘Catalogo della Musica di Chiesa composta di Giov: Adolfo Hasse’ score and parts are entered for this work: Messe No. 2. (Fach 1. Lage 2.). See also the listing of this work in Amaro VI, 1, 2.
On Hasse’s works held in SLUB, see Landmann, Katalog der Dresdner Hasse Musikhandschriften.
