This setting is one of a group of Vespers psalms with Magnificat for which Vivaldi was paid 21 sequins by the Pietà (Venice). See Stockigt & Talbot, ‘Two more Vivaldi Finds in Dresden’, Eighteenth-Century Music, 35–61. Federico Maria Sardelli identified the sixth of eleven movements as coming from a section of an aria in Vivaldi’s opera ‘La fida ninfa’ (1732).
