Remarks
Score copy. Blue-grey cover.
Cover label covers an earlier label to correspond with the entry in the missing Catalogo (c1784): Schranck No: 1. | Lit G. Fach 18. (pasted over another number) Lage | Motetto | No: 7) | Prata colles | à Soprano Solo | co’ VVni. Viola ed Org. | Partitura sola | del Sigr Galuppi | Incipit.
Caption title: Mottetto (left) Del Sigr Buranello (right).
The incipits of both the Catalogo and bar 1 of the score (third beat) contain an error of pitch. It is caused by the small manuscript of the score. The correct notation is given in bar 22 of the score.
False attribution. See Burde, Die venezianische Kirchenmusik von Baldassare Galuppi, Werkverzeichnis B, Fehlzuschreibung, 289–91. See also I/G/18/10.
RISM, however, suggests that the names of several names should be considered: Hasse, Leonardo Leo, Galuppi and Gioacchino Cocchi, who is thought to be the most likely composer of this motet.
See Stockigt, Italian Sacred Music (2018), 227–230, and the comments under the Remarks of I/G/15/2.
