Sanxian (San-Hsien/Chinese lute)

Description

Small oval body (flat back and front) with long narrow hardwood neck. Body covered with python snakeskin on front and back with wooden veneer sides, 3 hexagonal tapered pegs. Peg box with scroll (bone string separator). No existent strings. No bridge. Bone tailpiece at base. Played with claw-like bone plectrum. Size: body 14.5 cm wide, 7 cm deep. 76.5 cm in length.
