Provando al fine questo, e quel mestiero, si sece poi di Vacche guardiano, ch'erano d'un Signor detto Ruggiero, qual contentossi sidarle in sua mano; non giöæ per questo e gli mutö_ sentiero, rubbando piö_ che mai a salda mano; onde il padrone un giorno fö_ sforzato cacciar dal suo precoio il disgraziato. La collera lo rode, & ei si lagna, bestemmiando la terra, il mare, il mondo, e mentre dall'armento ei si scompagna, spesso per sdegno girando si a tondo, giurö_ di far si sempre all campagna un'assassine fiero, e furibondo, e per seguir tanta mala natura, cercö_ per valli, e boschi ogni pianura. Era de l'anno la stagion piö_ grata quando costui scorreva ogni collina, al fin in una parte ben locata si ritiro la seguente mattina, ove era una montagna aspra, & alzata, che per angusto calle si camina, piena di macchie, sterpi, tufi, e sassi, alta poi, che parta; che'l Ciel toccassi. Havea un cane Inglese smisurato, quanto ch'ogn'altro si possa trovare, il qual se lo menava sempre allato, che teneva costume non baiare; ma se assaltava qualche disgraziato, l'alma dal corpo gli sacea staccare; perche con fiero, inviperito dente mordeva, fracassando fieramente. Salito Arrigo alla cima del monte, con il suo can chiamato Perromoro, voltando quöæ, e la la fiera fronte, cercava una spelonca, un'antro, un foro e mentre in ciö_ tenea le voglie pronte, ecco venir da lungi un'huomo moro, con un'altro compagno suo assassino, ch'ogn'un di lor si facea piö_ vicino. Arrigo cenna il cane, il qual si aguatta, insieme co'l patrone, in certi erbami; e giunti gli assassini in quella fratta, il can, senz'altro, che lo cenni, ö_ chiami, gli assalta söå, che di valor gl'impatta, e Arrigo, che ne stöæ tröæ rami, e rami, spara lo schioppo, e ne colse un söå bene, che morto allor provö_ l'ultime pene. E mentre, che il secondo travagliato era dal cane fier, crudo, e mordace, che al primo assalto l'haveva arrivato, di modo tal, che piö_ non spera pace, Arrigo il pistolese sfoderato, d'ira avampando, come ardente face, menogli un colpo con tal tempo, & atto che il mezzo morto fe morir affatto. Restonne Arrigo di questa vittoria tutto contento, e pieno di letizia, e tenendo il mal far per somma gloria, ed atto virtuoso sua nequizia; quel che proposto havea nella memoria, tutto riesce, onde la sua malizia pigliando core, pensö_ seguitare, fin che sia ricco, alla strada rubare. Disse, e propose il perfido Villano di non voler gia mai lasciar la strada, se molti non ne veclde di sua mano, e cosi vuol, che il suo disegno vada; cosöå cercando il luogo & aspro, e piano la spelonce trovo, che assai le quadra, de i due ladroni, piena di bagaglie, arme, danari, veste, e vettovaglie. Fermossi Arrigo con molta sua festa nella spelonca, e per gli acuti canti, calando il monte sempre alla foresta rubava, & uccideva i viandanti, nascosto in una macchia di ginestra, con spada, e archibugio, e cane avanti, e due pistole a cinta, le qual tira söå giuste, e ben, che mai falliva mira. Questo ribaldo mai s'arrisigava, se i viandanti passavano dui perch'egli con un colpo un n'ammazzava l'altro il can trattenea co'morsi sui; e bene spesso con tre si provava, mandando l'alma loro a' regni bui, e se un scappava, ben che fusse lesto, il can mordace lo giungeva presto. I corpi poi di quelli, che uccideva, nettando il sangue sopra del terreno, nella spelonca sua gli conduceva, per far l'animo suo contento a pieno, i quai doppo spogliati gli metteva in un pozzo, c'havea quel monte inseno molto profondo tra quei dur massi, co prendogli con erba, tronchi, e fassi. pg 2 Stavasi il giorne all cima del monte, che la strada vedea ben di ser miglia, & iui alzando l'orgogliosa fronte, volgendo bene a quel sentier le ciglia; il numer delle genti tenea conte, di quöæ, di löæ con somma maraviglia, e poi se gli parcia scendeva a basso, di lor facendo macello, e fracasso. Et acciö_ il cane meglio s'avvezzasse, con maniere piö_ fiere, crude, e strane, non volle, ch'altro cibo mai mangiasse, che degli uccisi sol le carni humane, del resto poi, quantunque n'abbondasse, non gli auria datao un pezzolin de pane', tal che lo fece di si ingordo dente, ch'assaltava, affamato fieramente. Gente a cavallo di rado assaltava, perche temeva di far qualche errore; ma se un cavallo, ö_ a sine menava carco di pane, carne, over'liquore, nascosto, come hö_ detto, gli tirava tröæ ramo, e ramo, questo traditore, e conducendo ogni cosa all cava, il padrone, e la bestia sotterrava. O quanti semplicisti, & erbaiuoli, che l'erbe per il mondo iuan cercando, provorno di sua man gli ultimi duoli; e quanti ancor, ch'andavano cacciando, e quanti viandanti, e legnaiuoli, che per le macchie se' ne gian tagliando, e donne, e vecchi, e giovani, e bambini, e frati, ed eremiti, e pellegrini. Al tempo delle fiere poi n'andava a ritrovar alle Cittöæ compagni, perche sapeva dove bazzicava tal gente che facea vita da ragni; e cosöå ben con lor questi parlava, promettendogli parte de'guadagnl, e che sa rebbe tocco a ogn'un di loro gran quantita di roba, argento, & oro. Venite, e gli diceva, allegramente, che vi sarö_ sempre reale amico, ammazzeremo gran stuoli di gente, senz'alcuna fatica, ö_ ver intrico, richhi vi voglio fare immantinente, tenete pur a mente ciö_, che dico, e fatto il male havremo un luogo vago, che non lo troverebbe Simon mago. Cosöå dicendo seco gli menava, mostrandogli la strada, e modo, e via, dove molti mercanti assassinava, che troppo a raccontar lungo saria, con tale aiuto molti ne rubava, abbottinando robe, e mercanzia, poi per non far la parte de' guadagni, udite, che faceva a'suoi compagni. Dell'oppio si trovava haver comprato, il quale in molle nel vino metteva, e questo vino cosöå preparato in tavla a cenar tutto poneva, Arrigo senza ber, mangia affamato, lasciando ber ogn'un quanto voleva, i quali poi cadendo addormentati, eron da lui con un coltel scannati. Questo modo di far teneva spesso, quando tal'hor gli bisognava aiuto; ma da parte lasciamo questo adesso, che d'un altro mal far m' souvenuto, un giorno, che a spiare s'era messo da l'alto monte sopra un sasso acuto, tre donne vidde, e ben seppte contarle, onde calö_ con fretta ad affrontarle. Una di queste era ben giovinetta di diciott'anni, bella, e graziosa, che Maddalena era chiamata, e detta, figliuola d'una donna detta Rosa; e di mastro Faustin da Torboletta, che l'era gia di quattro mesi sposa, qual con due vecchie sue parenti andava a Livigiano, ove il fratello stava. Mentre, che queste senz alcun sospetto, liete tra loro andavano cantando, questo villano crudo, e maladetto, tröæ ramo, e ramo; le stava spiando; vidde, ch'una di loro havea un'aspetto bello, e gentile, & un volto ammirando allor pensö_ la giovane lasciare, e le due vecchie compagne ammazzare. Frenato il cane lasciar non lo volse, acciö_ che non facesse qual ch'errore, prima una vecchia con lo schioppo colse, e l'altra uccise ancora con furore; poi sopra quella giovinetta corse, che l'aria empiva di grido, e rumore, graffiando i crini, e la pallida faccia, ma'l villano la giunge, e forte abbraccia. La lega a un tronco, fin che sotterrate hebbe le vecchie nell'oscura conca, e poi la mena per le dirupate, e salvatiche vie, nella spelonca, dove le fantasie triste, e sfrenate contente fece, e la vergogna tronca, con dir, che non dovesse piö_ temere, che la teneva sol per suo piacere. Arrigo si godea la giovanetta, ma perch'egli era tristo, e sospettoso mai la volle perö_ lascia soletta, pensando al peggio, come malizioso; ma nel partire la legava stretta cun le catene; a un tronco assai nodoso, che se ben qualche amore gli portava, non per questo perö_ se ne fidava. La donna, che non vede alcuna via per ulcir dalle man del villano, coprendo tanto sdegno, e voglia ria, mitiga il pianto, e mostra volto umano, e con un finto amore, e cortesia fine d'amarso con un ben soprano, e questo amore tanto ben fingeva, che il sciagurato affatto lo credeva. Ma non festa pero quella regare quando tal'hor gli convenia partire; e quel ch' peggio, e piö_ crudo a narrare & a lei cresce il celato martire, che pregna essendo la lasciava stare, fin che giunt'era il temp a partorire, e fatto questo il fanciullo pigliava, e torcendogli il collo l'ammazzava. Alla fin non potendo piö_ nel core tener celato tanto sdegno, & ira, lei vöæ tra se pensando a tutte l'hore, e molte cose tra la mente gira; ferirlo di sua mano höæ gran timore, che non riesca, tal ch'ella sospira, e di fuggirgli via non puö_ far niente, perche a guardarla  troppo diligente. pg 3 Pensa, e ripenta, e dopo haver pensato, ritrova un modo, & eseguisce tosto, e questo fö_, che reneva spiato dove il sonnifero oppio era nascosto, e tanto cerca, che al fin l'höæ trovato, il quale dentro al vin presto l'ha posto, Arrigo beve senz alcun sospetto, e cadde addormentato accanto al letto. Quando la donna lo vedde ronfare, corse a pgliar la sua propria catena, la qual di ferro haveva un gran collare con un lucchetto di gagliarda lena, la chiaque prima gli volle levare, quando, che addormentossi dopo cena, quella gli mette al collo, e serra a chiave raccomandata a sasso molto grave. Doppo, ch'il manigoldo hebbe legato, con quel laccio, che fu legata lei, e che ben forte gli habbe incatenato il corpo a man (con le manette) e' piei, lasciando quello cosöå addormentato, piglia una torcia, che ve n'eran sei, n ricordodosi ella ove si vada, il can sciolto gli facea la strada. Calata la montaga, cacciö_ il cane, non piu volendo quello in compagnia, e cosi andando per vie torte, e prane, non ritrovando mai niun per la via; avvicinossi alle paterne tane, alla Cittöæ, dout [dov?] la sua genöåa , ch'otto anni gia per morta avean tenuta e alla sprovvista entrando gli saluta. Hora lasciamo andare l'allegrezza, che fece il padre vedendo la figlia, e de' parenti quella contentezza, la qual cresceva in lor piö_ maraviglia, e lei narrando allor la crudelezza d'Arrigo, a rutti fe inarcar le ciglia, narrandogli la morte de' figliuoli, e d'altre genti anco infiniti stuoli. Thus it was that Marco Sciarra-illo of the Abruzzi, when hard pressed by the Spanish viceroy of Naples - just before and after 1600 - could cross the border of the papal states and return on a favourable opportunity. Lorenzino was born in Florence, Italy, the son of Pierfrancesco II de' Medici and Maria Soderini. He was educated at Camerino together with Cosimo and Alessandro de' Medici. He and the latter were later involved in several public scandals involving their escapades. In 1526 Lorenzino was brought with Cosimo to Venice to escape the Landsknechts falling on Florence, and was also saved from the expulsion of the Medici from that city following the Sack of Rome which crushed the power of the most powerful member of the family, Pope Clement VII. After a period in Veneto, Bologna and Rome (where he gained the nickname Lorenzaccio, "Bad Lorenzo", for his habit of decapitating statues), he returned to his native city in 1530, after the end of the Imperial siege which installed Alessandro as duke. Probably prompted by Filippo Strozzi, Lorenzino and the killer Scoronconcolo murdered duke Alessandro on January 5, 1537. Lorenzino entrapped Alessandro through the ruse of a promised arranged sexual encounter with Lorenzino's sister Laudomia, a beautiful widow. After this, he fled to Bologna, and from there to Turkey, France, and then Venice. He wrote a public defense of his actions (the Apologia), claiming that, as an ideal heir of Marcus Junius Brutus, dedication to human liberty had forced him to kill Alessandro. As a writer, Lorenzino also authored the play Aridosio, which gained him notable critics. Cosimo I de' Medici became Duke of Florence, and condemned Lorenzino to death. O Gott müß ich hie sterben sprach sich das Meitlin fromm Ist dann kein mensch auff erden der mir zü hilffe kumm. So erbarm sich der Herr Jesus Christ der für unns arme Sünder am Creüz gestorben ist. Müß ich dann sterben hie in peyn ach mordt unn imer mordt Eim möcht sherz zersprungen sein so manchs klägliches wort. Sprach dz selb Jungfröwlin schon warumb wilt uns ermörden Gott wirts ungrochen nit lon. Gott Gsägen dich mein Vatter meim herzen dem gschicht wee Unnd auch mein liebste schwester ich gsich euch nimmehr mee. Innigklich weinnet die Jungfrouw fein damit nam er ein mässer stachs ir zür kälen ein. Also müßt sie auch enden dschlüssel nam er mit gwalt Er sücht an allen enden acht becher fand er bald. Fünff kronen hat er auch genon darnach wolt ers verbrennen zwen strowseck zündt er an. Inn dem gieng er von dennen mit dem das er hat gnon Vermeint das hauß wurd brennen so wißte niemandt wers het thon. Aber Gott was vor dem unfall gar bald ward er gefangen im dorff heißt Hagenthal. Darmit mach ich ein ende der erschröcklichen gschicht Am ein un zwenzigsten Hornunge stalt man in für Gericht. Der that er da bekanntlich was ja wer das hat gesehen der wirt mit glauben das. Den Henckher hat man gheissen so bald man durtheyl gsprach Er solt in hinauß schlieffen wie bald das selbig gschach. Des wirt sie Gott geniessen lon hie im zeytlichen leben und dört inn Himmels thron. Wir wöllen treüwlich bitten für unsere Oberkeit Nach Christenlichem sitten umb frid und einigkeit.
