<text>Having practiced ‘physical distancing’ and self-isolating since the 13th of March my sharehouse decided that instead of simply responding to warnings and protocols put in place by both the federal and state government we wanted to be prepared, to know our options, to discuss and strategize our next moves. As someone who is immune-compromised the fact that my housemates and partner were prepared to sit down and look at the ways in which as we could care for each other (emotionally, financially, socially) whilst also vocalising our own limitations, worries and stressors associated with this unprecedented situation we have found ourselves in, represents a powerful feeling of inclusion. I have been involved in climate preparedness, resilience strategies and community resourcefulness processes in the past, so this small act of pulling apart a cardboard box, sharing Dahl and mind-mapping our options and choices moving forward over the next days, weeks and months represents just one way we are working together as a home to create a space of inclusion and support.

These three items- my diary, my capstone research folder and my unimelb hoodie have become the three things I use most often when working from home. The diary keeps me on track with tasks, the folder has helped me organise and redesign my research project (had to be adapted because of COVID-19) and my hoodie helps me get into “study mode”- I tend to wear it during study sessions to act as a subtle reminder that it is study time. These are little, material, things, however they have become essential in making sure my days are productive.

<text>This is an image of my hand on one side of the bathroom door, and on the other side, toilet paper. Currently in Australia, there is a shortage of toilet paper due to the COVID-19 situation, and I wanted to portray my family’s struggle of obtaining toilet paper.

I used my hand to portray my feeling at that time - helplessness. I was in self-quarantine for two weeks and I was not allowed to leave the house. To worsen the situation, we were also running low on toilet paper at home. For two weeks, my mum struggled to find toilet paper anywhere. I felt helpless at home and felt sorry for my family.

Fortunately, I had a great network of friends. I spoke to my friends on our current situation, and one of them kindly gave us this pack of toilet paper. She told me that she had an extra pack of toilet paper, so she drove all the way to my house to deliver this pack to us. Her act of kindness made me reflect on how fortunate I am to have friends that look out for my family and I. Although this virus is affecting all of us, I truly believe that we can fight this together if we look out for each other through this stressful period in time.

Instead of sitting on the classroom with my classmates, I am sitting down at our living room with the little one peeping out of her curiosity and of course some laundry piles! I really thought online classes will be boring and isolating, but my experience so far has been great. Thanks to Zoom, I am able to interact with my lecturers and classmates as normal and even listen to songs together! It has been a very precious moments for me too, as I am able to be with my daughter a whole time, ensuring she is safe, and interacting with her way much than before.</text>

These multiple windows depict the current injustices and issues going on in our world. They have been placed on the screen this way to make it look cluttered, giving a sense of panic and being overwhelmed by these bad news. The image of the battery running low is meant to represent a lack of energy and tiredness in response to these news. Alcohol is often correlated with depression and sadness, which is why I included this in the image.

<text>This photo does not really relate to my experience as a student during this COVID-19 situation, but as a temporary Victorian resident in this country. I took this photo while I was desperately looking for prescribed medicine at around five pharmacies and were told that they are out of stock. Previously, I could not really relate on the impact of people stockpiling at their homes into my own life, but that particular day stroked me hard as I realized how one’s selfishness might make others (at extreme cases) lose their life. What happened in the past few weeks has been a mixture of both positive and negative feeling for me. I feel scared and insecure on what is going to happen with me, my family, and my dear friends in the future but at the same time I feel COVID-19 has been a way to remind me that we are all in this together and we cannot go through this successfully if we do not help each other.

<text>I captured this photo when I was on my way to the university’s health services at Cardigan street due to flu symptoms. I remember it was around 8.30 AM in the morning on Friday. Normally, tram around this time will be packed of people and I hardly get seat on my way to university. However, that day the tram was really quiet and the COVID-19 impact to our community has become more surreal to me than ever. Arriving at the health services for me was another nightmare, wearing a mask and coughing made me feel like I am a criminal. I was really scared as I felt that people were staring at me, making distance, and I even felt that the doctor was scared of being in one room with me. I have heard lots of racism going on due to COVID-19 spread, and as an international student I was really afraid that I will get that too at that moment.</text>

Although this image may look ordinary, this was my first time strolling around the neighbourhood after being locked away for two weeks. This was a point of reflection for me: having the ability to step out of the house, breathe in the fresh air and take a stroll is a privilege at this moment. Now that we are heading towards a complete lockdown in Australia, I realised that I took these little things in life for granted. I do feel quite disheartened by this situation, but I know that this is for everyone’s safety and I know that this will be over in due time.
