An Arts Education Imperative: New Directions for Sustainability
Newsletter No. 7
8 October 2021
Hello members,
Update on progress
We are pleased to report that the project team have been successful with two applications to present at the "Conference 2021 - Creative CONVERGENCE Créative" - hosted by The Canadian Network for Arts & Learning. In addition, we are continuously developing creative artworks to help visualise this project. Here are two more quilt layouts made by our wonderful data scientist. These quilts include twenty image snapshots taken every 20 seconds from each video that we received from you.
This is the image quilt of ‘core samples’ from Neda’s video, I come from Iran, on her practice-based research. Placing the images side-by-side with the visual representation of the audio in the bottom right patch gives us a brief overview of the visual and audio data of her beautiful work.

The image quilt from Kate and Marnee’s video on their Child + Adult Artists Research Project (C+AARP) takes us through their illustration of the folding, unfolding, and refolding of work as a paper plane. The yellow waveform shows the different audio signatures of the two speakers.

About your PechaKucha style videos
If you need more time to execute your PechaKucha videos, we have good news for you. The deadline has been extended to 10 October. Later video submissions still have the chance to be showcased in our online gallery along with the others.
Update on the Arts Imperatives Mozilla Hub
You have been invited to attend an extraordinary meeting of our MGSE project team on 11 October, 12-1 pm (AEDT), to walk through the meta world sites and artworks created by our creative team (check your email in the past week for the Zoom meeting details). Participation is optional due to different time zones. We will be recording a video of this meeting and will provide a link to it in the upcoming newsletters.

Creative work publications list (thus far!)
This working list for citing within the ‘Arts Education Imperatives’ project includes the DOI for each item. Digital Object Identifiers, commonly shortened to DOIs, were designed to give individual digital resources or items a unique, persistent identifier. DOIs provide a regulated means of identifying 'objects' so they can be accessed even with changes of ownership and location. This is achieved through a combination of technical infrastructure and social infrastructure. In essence, while the DOI never changes, the location that it is pointing to, and the information presented at that location can be updated as needed. For more information you can watch our short video demonstration of Figshare: https://doi.org/10.26188/16713883.v1
